PREVIEW | Hindley Juniors Women vs Chester FC Women
Chester FC Women are on the road in the league again this weekend, as they face the short trip away to face Hindley Juniors Women.
The Seals made it back-to-back wins in the league last weekend following a convincing 4-1 away victory at Alder FC Women. Martin Fitzsimons’s side were made to work hard for the victory against a stubborn Alder side but having led 1-0 at the break. Chester found another gear to score three times in the second half to ensure a third away league win of the season. The three points for the Blues tightened their grasp on 4th place with the side five points clear of Northwick Vixens in 5th place having played four games less.
Sunday’s opponents Hindley Juniors Women currently find themselves in 11th place, rooted to the bottom of the table having only won one game to date so far in the league this season. They come into this weekend’s game with one win in their last five games that coming in a 5-2 victory against BRNESC Ladies, that being said Chester shouldn’t be taking Hindley lightly. Hindley managed to score four times against the league leaders Bury AFC last weekend in a 7-4 defeat, showing that on their day they can be a dangerous opponent to any side. The two sides are yet to meet this season so far following a postponement earlier in the season.
Stat Attack
- Chester are unbeaten in their last two meetings with Hindley following a league double last season. (4-0 & 0-1)
- The Seals currently hold a 100% record of scoring in every league game this season.
- A win for Hindley and results elsewhere could see them close the gap on Wythenshawe to one point.

Manager Thoughts
“Last week, we can say ‘job done’. We felt we did ok; the conditions didn’t help but for this group there was room for improvements. We’re disappointed to concede a goal from nothing again, that’s something that really needs to be addressed. We’ve mentioned before about the need for more clean sheets and that’s something that has really cost us this year. So, we need to start to put that right consistently. That said, the Alder game was fully of positives and areas we can improve”.
“This week, a new challenge in Hindley. We’ve not played them yet this year, so they’ll be relatively unknown, but we’ll go into the game concentrating on ourselves and what we need to do in and out of possession. A big target for us will be a clean sheet, as well as continuing our good form in front of goal. When we can combine what we do on the ball with intelligent play off the ball, we’ve proven to be a match for teams much higher than the league we in. Now’s the time to produce that more consistently”.
