Calum McIntyre speaks for the first time since taking the role of First Team Manager at Chester FC, on Saturday’s special episode of The Seals Podcast!

In a 29-minute interview after signing a two-year contract, Calum discusses:

    • His excitement on taking the role
    • The journey to this point and perceptions
    • Working at Runcorn Linnets and within the Academy
    • Player recruitment and club identity
    • The importance of the supporters to club success

Speaking to the Official Podcast on his appointment, he said: “I will need every single person.

“We’ll start by recruiting the best possible football team we can within our recruitment strategy, that means we’re going to win football games.

“Then we will develop a togetherness in the dressing room, for what is going to be a really competitive campaign at this level of football.

“We will put an identity in and be really clear about what we want to be. It won’t always be perfect, there will be bumps along the way, but we will develop that identity.

“That team and the roles will then extend to the supporters and the football club to be a part of that – they are a massive, massive part.”

The 28-year-old continued to emphasise how critical a united fanbase will be for the progression of Chester Football Club.

“The support is recognised by the players, I know that. It is vital,” he said.

“We have got to give that vocal supporter base something to get behind, something that makes the Deva a difficult place to come – the way previous managers have.

“We’ve then got to ensure we give them something worth travelling for on the road. But we need everyone.

“Without them, we will achieve nothing. I’m clear that everyone has to come together, but it doesn’t mean everyone’s got to agree.

“Everyone needs to get behind what the club, the team and what I – and those around me – are going to attempt to do.

“Come and get behind what we’re trying to do, with open minds, and give me the opportunity. Let’s achieve something at this football club – everybody here wants the same thing.”
