Remembrance tribute planned ahead of Marine Match
Chester FC is proud to pay its respects to the Armed Forces community ahead of our home fixture on Tuesday 4 November versus Marine.
We will be recognising the sacrifice of those who have served – and continue to serve – and invite all supporters, players, officials and visitors to join in a moment of commemoration and reflection prior to kick-off.
Supporters are encouraged to enter the ground for 7:30pm in order to pay their respects.
What to expect
- We are honoured to welcome representatives of 22 Multi-Role Medical Regiment from Dale Barracks, B Coy 4th Battalion The Mercian Regiment and The Mercian & Cheshire Regiment Association
- Once the teams and officials have gathered around the centre circle, wreaths will be laid on the pitch and The Last Post will be sounded, followed by a minute’s silence as we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice
- For clarity, supporters are advised that the sounding of the Last Post will immediately start the minute’s silence, which will end on the referee’s whistle, when supporters are invited to applaud
- Our players will be wearing poppy armbands for the game as a sign of respect, four poppy corner flags will be in position, and we welcome a number of children of current serving military personnel and veterans as player escorts for the match
We encourage everyone attending the match to arrive with sufficient time to take part in the tribute and to show respect throughout the proceedings.
We Will Remember Them.
