Report: Chester 2-0 Leamington
A dominant performance earned the Blues all three points at the Deva Stadium over Leamington.
Dylan Mottley-Henry opened the scoring with a close-range header, before Pat Jones doubled the lead with a clever finish inside the opening 20 minutes.
The Blues flew out of the traps at the Deva Stadium and grabbed the lead after just seven minutes.
Mottley-Henry made an instant impact on his return to league action, when he headed past Eddie Brearey after a well-delivered free-kick from Lewis Leigh.
Tom Peers flicked an effort wide shortly after as he latched on to Jack Shorrock’s fantastic drilled cross.
P. Jones doubled the lead in the 18th minute as our number 18 cut inside and fired a clinical effort past Brearey into the bottom corner, the perfect start to the contest for the Seals.
Leigh shone in the opening period as he looked to create constant chances for the front line, before connecting sweetly with an effort of his own that flew narrowly over the top, just prior to the half-hour mark.
Calum McIntyre’s side controlled the contest for the remainder of the first-half, and protected George Murray-Jones in the home goal who faced minimal goal-mouth action.
Josh Quaynor had the Brakes’ first chance of the second-half but his half-volleyed effort was gather by George Murray-Jones.
The second period saw few clear-cut opportunities, with Jack Bainbridge having the Seals’ best, only for his close-range header to be thwarted by Brearey in the away goal.
Murray-Jones was called into action late in the contest as he caught Quaynor’s dangerous low cross inside the six-yard box, as Chester earned three valuable points.
It’s another home clash up next for Calum McIntyre’s side as Hereford visit the Deva on Tuesday night.
