REPORT | Chester 3-2 Bromley

Chester got back to winning ways with a thrilling victory over Bromley at the Swansway Chester Stadium this evening.

Academy Graduate Nathan Brown was the hero with the winner, as the Blues led three times in this game with Dom Vose and Jordan Archer also getting on the scoresheet. Goals from Josh Rees and Omar Bugiel twice levelled the scores.

Marcus Bignot named an unchanged side following Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Tranmere Rovers – and the Blues were bright in the opening 45.

Following a pretty uneventful opening quarter of an hour, the Blues were unlucky not to be ahead following some good saves from Bromley stopped David Gregory.

First, Vose was brilliantly denied from close range following James Akintunde’s cross. Then, just after the half hour mark, Harry White was superbly stopped from close range by Gregory following a good run and cross by Andy Halls.

Marcus Bignot’s side did get their rewards in first half stoppage time. Craig Mahon’s low pass from the left found Vose in space, and he curled home into the far corner brilliantly from 20 yards out.

The visitors did fight back in the second half – Louis Dennis curling wide of the post, before an equaliser on 65 minutes.

Luke Wanadio’s persistence paid off, as he wrestled the ball off Roberts and cut back for Rees to sweep home.

But the Blues showed plenty of fight – and Tom Crawford was twice denied by Gregory before sub Archer made an impact.

James Akintunde did well to pip Gregory to the ball on the left, and cut back from the byline for the striker to tap home.

However, the lead was short lived, as four minutes later another sub Bugiel nodded home powerfully from Frankie Sutherland’s left sided free kick.

Nevertheless, Nathan Brown stole the show in the last minute of the 90. He latched on to Vose’s pass just inside the Bromley half – charged forward, beat the defender with skill and fired home to make himself the hero.
