Report: Chester 4-1 Lancaster City
The Blues finished their Isle of Man trip with a deserved 4-1 win over Lancaster City, as Declan Weeks, Dan Turner, Tom Peers and 17-year-old Oskar Rosenblatt got on the scoresheet to make it two wins from two on the island.
It was a slow opening ten minutes at the Bowl, with the only opportunity falling to the head of Harrison Burke who leapt well but glanced his headed effort wide from an inviting Declan Weeks delivery.
The Blues took the lead after 16 minutes with a goal which featured some excellent link-up play from Tom Peers and Dan Turner.
Peers slotted a ball through to Harrison Burke who marauded up the right-wing before drilling a cross for Weeks who had a simple task to finish.
Calum McIntyre’s men almost made it two just moments later when Jack Bainbridge flighted a brilliant ball which found Jordan Hunter but his cross could not be connected with by Iwan Murray or Burke in the box.
The second came quickly though when Murray and Peers combined brilliantly to get in behind the Lancaster back line before the former squared the ball giving Turner a similar chance to Weeks’ first, and the forward tapped home.
The Dolly Blues came back at the Blues and got one back in quick fashion, as Trialist 17 turned on the edge of the box and fired past Cam Mason in the Chester goal to halve the deficit.
The Seals attack continued to pose problems for their opposition though, with a mix of Peers’ excellent hold-up play and Turner’s trickery causing issues.
Peers made it three goals for the weekend with seven minutes of the half remaining when he was the first to react to a Matty Williams knock down to smash the ball past the keeper.
Ollie Heywood created one more chance in the half and his inviting ball was met by Hunter but his strong effort was blocked.
The second period was less eventful, with chances sparse and less intensity to the contest.
Goalkeeper Alex Brown was brought on at half time and performed well when he was called into action for the first time, blocking a good effort from close range.
The Blues remained in control, rarely being troubled by the opposition but also not creating loads of chances.
Oskar Rosenblatt was brought on late on to make an impact and in the dying embers of the game, Rosenblatt left his mark.
Reece Daly pinched the ball from a Lancaster defender before giving it to the 17-year-old outside the area.
He fired a fantastic, curling effort past the Trialist keeper to wrap up the result.
A controlling performance from the Seals, who restricted Lancaster and dominated the game, concluding a thoroughly enjoyable weekend on the Isle of Man.
