Report: Chester FC 1-1 Scarborough Athletic

The Blues earned a point against Scarborough Athletic courtesy of a late equaliser from Dylan Mottley-Henry at the Deva Stadium.

The Seadogs took an early lead through winger Rio Allan, who managed to take the ball around George Murray-Jones on the edge of the 18-yard box before he smashed into the top corner from an acute angle.

Calum McIntyre’s side had the majority of the ball for the remainder of the first period but found themselves up against a stubborn Scarborough back line.

Pat Jones looked a major threat throughout and had his first effort in the 18th minute, but his attempt was comfortable for Ryan Whitley in the away goal.

The ‘keeper was called into action once again on the half-hour mark as he stopped a close-range effort from Peers after a well-directed cross from P. Jones.

Fin Shrimpton had the final opportunity of a half that lacked clear-cut chances, but his strike from 20 yards out was blocked by away captain Will Thornton.

The second half was as scrappy as the first, with a lack of goalmouth action at either end.

Luca Colville struck towards goal just before the hour mark but Tom Leak cleared to safety.

Declan Weeks, Peers, Leak, K. Roberts, Mottley-Henry and F. Roberts all picked up bookings in a second period that was largely played between both boxes.

The Blues had to wait patiently before an equaliser finally came deep into stoppage time, as Mottley-Henry rose the highest and nodded past Whitley from close-range in the 95th minute.
