REPORT | Chester FC Women 2-0 Runcorn Linnets Ladies

Chester returned to winning ways, securing an impressive three points over league leaders Runcorn Linnets yesterday.

Martin Fizsimons’ side were on the front foot from minute one, and could have led early in the game but Imogen Paul and Sarah Redman both fired off target, before Redman and then Alisha Wright were denied by the Runcorn ‘keeper.

Nevertheless, the pressure paid off on 24 minutes as Paul fired into the corner after latching on to the loose ball, giving the Blues a half time lead in Helsby.

Then, nine minutes into the second half, the lead was doubled. Molly Wood scored yet another goal, her 13th already of the calendar year, after being assisted by Player of the Match Ellie Bradley.

The scoreline could have been extended late on but Wood failed to convert from Ash Bullock’s cross. An impressive victory over top of the table for the Seals!
