Report: Kidderminster Harriers 1-1 Chester

    Calum McIntyre’s men battled to a point on the road at Kidderminster Harriers, as a late Charlie Caton penalty brought us level in Worcestershire.

    Elyh Harrison, on his second Chester appearance, continued to impress as he made a tidy save from Ashley Hemmings’ drilled effort after 17 minutes.

    Maliq Cadogan also struck a shot towards Harrison but that too was held by the 18-year-old.

    Charlie Caton almost had a clear sight of goal with ten minutes left of the first period after he was played in by George Glendon but Caton’s strike was blocked on the edge of the area.

    It was a very tight contest, with little between the teams as they headed into the break.

    The Blues came out sharply after the interval, but Kiddy hit back as the clash started to open up and Joe Foulkes had a couple of close-range strikes deflected.

    One of these landed at the foot of substitute Jack Lambert, but his hooked effort did not find the target from inside the six-yard box.

    Tope Obadeyi made his chance count in the 65th minute though as he got on the end of a powerful Ashley Hemmings cross to powerfully head home from close-range.

    The Seals came back at the Harriers though, as a mazy Caton run gave Nathan Woodthorpe space in the area but his shot was blocked.

    The pendulum swung towards Chester in the 75th minute when Matty Williams’ header was saved on the line by Harriers captain Ashley Hemmings.

    Referee Ben Robinson pointed to the spot and Hemmings was sent off, leaving Caton with a brilliant chance to grab his sixth goal in five matches.

    He stepped up with great composure and smashed the ball low past Christian Dibble to pull the Seals level.

    Calum McIntyre’s men threw everything at Kiddy as we looked to find a winner but nothing clear-cut came our way in the final ten minutes and we settled for a hard-fought point on the road.
