Report: Leamington 0-2 Chester
Goals from Pat Jones and Tom Davies earned the Blues all three points at Your Co-op Community Stadium!
The Blues started quickly in Warwickshire and grabbed the lead inside three minutes courtesy of P. Jones, who was played in via an inviting Iwan Murray through ball, before our number 18 slotted a drilled finish past Eddie Brearey.
Calum McIntyre’s men looked to add to the early lead throughout the opening period, firstly through Lewis Leigh, whose flicked effort was pushed away by Brearey after positive work from Murray on the left-hand side.
Connor Woods and P. Jones linked up well shortly after, but the latter saw his drilled effort roll narrowly past the near post.
The away momentum continued as the half drew the a close, with further opportunities for Murray, whose low strike slid just wide, and Woods, who saw his shot comfortably gathered by Brearey.
The second-half started in a similar vein, with a chance falling to Woods almost immediately after the restart, as he found himself through on goal but his effort was blocked by Brearey.
The shot-stopper had no chance with the next opportunity though, as Tom Davies curled a powerful effort that nestled in the top corner to double our advantage.
A stunning strike on his second appearance in Blue after a loan move from National League South outfit Salisbury, and one that put the Seals in a commanding position in Warwickshire
Woods threatened throughout and almost made it three just before the hour mark but his side-footed low effort was palmed away..
The remainder of the contest was managed professionally by the Blues, with Woods having another chance late on, as another effort forced Brearey into a smart save on a busy afternoon for the shot-stopper.
It ended in success for Chester, who are back in midweek action on Tuesday with a trip to Worcester for a clash with Hereford.
