REPORT | Macclesfield 0-3 Chester
Chester were victorious once again in pre-season on Friday night, this time against the reformed Macclesfield.
Ethan Cartwright struck a quick fire double in the opening 12 minutes of the game. His first on seven minutes was a rocket of a strike from the edge of the box after the Macc keeper had punched Luke Clark’s corner out to the midfielder to shoot first time.
He bagged a brace five minutes later at the end of a fine move. George Waring’s hold up play was excellent and he then slid the ball through to Cartwright who made no mistake.
Waring went from provider to scorer just 30 seconds after the interval. Clark’s drive from the edge deflected kindly into the path of the frontman who whipped an effort into the bottom corner.
Louis Gray made a fine low second half stop to deny Macclesfield Player-Manager Danny Whitaker and preserve his clean sheet.
