REPORT | Runcorn Linnets Ladies 4-2 Chester FC Women

Chester FC Women were beaten for the first time this season over the weekend, as they lost at Runcorn Linnets.

The hosts raced into an early lead after four minutes, but Martin Fitzsimons’ side battled back to go in front after a quarter of an hour.

First, Charlotte Locke’s free kick found the net through a crowd of bodies on six minutes, before Ellie Bradley gave the Blues the advantage with a fantastic strike from distance.

However, Linnets battled back with an equaliser on 33 minutes to keep it level at the interval.

And the home side were in a commanding position by the hour mark thanks to a quickfire second half double.

Chester continued to battle for a way back into the game, and had some opportunities through Alisha Wright, Ash Bullock and then Bradley late on, but their unbeaten start came to an end.

CHESTER: Foster, Adderley, Quigg (Paul 65), Sands, Priest (c), Bradley (Bullock 46), Redman (Dowell 65), Locke (Bradley 80), Wright, Wood, Jones (Gray 65).

    SCORERS: Locke 6, Bradley 15.

Chester FC can confirm that the Women’s scheduled league fixture with Hindley on Sunday at the Deva Stadium has unfortunately been postponed.

The Blues return to action on Sunday 2nd October in the FA Cup with a trip to Blackburn Community Sports Club in the Second Qualifying Round.
