RIP Michelle, Alan, Nigel, Peter and Allan
We have been devastated to learn of the passing of five much loved members of the Chester FC family over recent days.
The loss of Michelle Banks, Alan Vincent, and Nigel Clarke, who all volunteered at the Deva Stadium for many years, and lifelong supporters Allan Pemberton and Peter Povey, has deeply affected the football club.
Michelle Banks, wife of Director Jeff Banks, very sadly passed away yesterday following a brave battle with an incurable brain tumour since late last year
As well as being the loving wife to Jeff and caring mother to Alfie and Harry, Michelle dedicated her time to the Blues as a volunteer during the early years of our reformation as a phoenix club.
Yesterday we also received the sad news of the sudden passing of Alan Vincent, who was a valued member of our Legends Lounge team. Alan provided a warm and friendly face at the Deva on matchdays, welcoming our Legends Lounge and Boardroom guests at each game.
Nigel Clarke, another one of our dedicated volunteers, has also very sadly passed away. Nigel was a regular on the Hipkiss Express away travel bus and could be found in and around the ground selling 50/50 tickets on a matchday.
We have also been informed of the sad passing of Allan Pemberton and Peter Povey after battles with illness.
Allan was a lifelong supporter and season ticket holder, who also played for Chester under Manager John Harris. He passed away last Sunday at the age of 89.
Peter too followed the Blues throughout his life and was a season ticket holder in the East Stand, sharing many memories at the Deva alongside his son, Mark.
On behalf of everyone at Chester FC, we extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Michelle, Alan, Nigel, Peter and Allan.
In such difficult circumstances and in support of all those impacted by these losses, the club will come together to remember Michelle, Alan, Nigel, Peter and Allan by observing a minute’s silence prior to Tuesday’s game against Oxford City.
