TEAM OF THE DECADE | Akwasi Asante completes the side!
Has a player ever made a quicker and more emphatic impact at Chester than Akwasi Asante?
Through November 2018, Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley were in the hunt for a forward and they brought in the Dutchman on the last day of the month – initially on loan from Tamworth.
A day later, he made his debut against Darlington. And didn’t waste any time in making his mark down CH1.
The Blues won 3-1, with Asante scoring the ‘perfect’ hat-trick. Left foot, right foot, header. Clinical.
It wasn’t to end there though, as he bagged in the next two games before signing permanently for the club in the New Year for an undisclosed fee.
Asante’s record is lethal. 28 goals in 41 games and seven of those appearances are from the bench.
He’s the man for the big occasion too. At Telford earlier this season, Akwasi smashed home his second hat-trick for the club in front of 700+ travelling and jubilant Blues fans in an important National League North clash. Yes, it was another ‘perfect’ treble too.
A truly meticulous finisher inside the box, Akwasi Asante partners Michael Wilde in the Chester FC Team of the Decade!
