TEAM OF THE DECADE | Michael Wilde is up front!
He scored at home and he scored away.
Michael Wilde’s incredible scoring record in the first season will always be a fond memory as the Blues won the Evo-Stik Division One North title.
36 league goals in that first season, he fractured his collarbone in pre-season of 2011 and was then dogged by injury throughout the second campaign.
Nevertheless, the forward still chipped in with five goals in 23 appearances in the Evo-Stik Premier, as a second successive title was won.
That first season was ‘Wilde thing’ at his very best. At a time of such excitement following the devastation of losing Chester City last term, he was the goalscoring fan favourite that every Blues supporter fell in love with.
A memorable night at home to Trafford in our first league home game resulted in a 6-0 win, with the number ten bagging his first of four hat-tricks that term.
Another would follow at Harrogate Railway in October. Then two more in the month of February 2011, Durham City and Clitheroe feeling the full force of the lethal frontman.
He departed the Deva in June 2012, finishing with 73 games and 46 goals. He’d only started 55 of those matches. A truly clinical record.
Always firmly in the hearts of Chester fans, striker Michael Wilde makes your Team of the Decade!
