Thank you, Jimmy!

After 14 years of dedicated service, kit man Jimmy Soul is to retire from his role with Chester FC.

Jimmy has been a constant presence at the Deva Stadium during the fan-owned era, having arrived with Neil Young in 2010 and has since clocked up more than 600 matches.

He has become a well-known character within non-league circles, making lasting friendships with many players, managers, coaches, officials and opposition kit men.

Jimmy will bid farewell to the club after the pre-season game with Altrincham on Saturday.

“There’s no question Jimmy is a Chester legend and the Deva won’t be the same without him,” said CFU Vice Chairman, Jim Green.

“He has been an unbelievable servant to the football club who has performed the role to the highest standards and is massively respected within the game.

“On a personal level, I’ve loved working with Jimmy and he’s given me a huge amount of support. He has a fantastically dry sense of humour and, through good times and not so good, we’ve shared many laughs and he will always be welcome at Chester.”

Everyone at Chester Football Club would like to thank Jimmy for magnificent service during his time with the Blues and wish him a happy retirement.

A message from Jimmy…

Hello everyone,

This has not been an easy decision, and it is with deep regret I am having to retire due to a number of factors.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped and assisted me in completing my duties throughout my time here at Chester Football Club.

From the volunteers that have cleaned the dressing rooms, helped wash and transport kit around, and the much-loved ‘Bean Team’ at the training ground working with the first team, I say thank you.

I have really enjoyed myself at this amazing club, I have made friends for life, and hope to continue coming to games to support the team and helping out voluntarily where I can.

I wish all the staff, players and volunteers the very best for this season ahead and many years to come.
