Tom Leak is here to stay!

Chester FC are delighted to announce the addition of Tom Leak on a permanent basis following a successful loan spell last term.

The 24-year-old puts pen to paper on a one-year deal at the Deva after his release from Boston United.

Leak swapped the Pilgrims for the Seals in February and slotted faultlessly into a defence that conceded an average of less than a goal-a-game during the National League North campaign.

The centre-back recorded 12 appearances in the latter stages of the season, and played a crucial role in the Blues’ run to the Promotion Final, which included a streak of six successive victories.

Born in Burton-upon-Trent, Tom began his career in the West Midlands with EFL League Two outfit Walsall, before stints at Salisbury FC, Bath City, Kidderminster Harriers and Alfreton Town.

Leak becomes our first new signing of the summer, just a day after Jack Bainbridge extended his stay following an impressive first campaign in a Chester shirt.

After extending his stay down CH1, Tom said: “I’m buzzing, it has felt like that ever since the start of my loan.

“As soon as I knew the gaffer wanted to make it permanent it was an easy decision for me.

“The team spirit last year was unbelievable.”

Leak also spoke on his aims for next season: “We’re going to do everything we can to make sure we do it this year,” he said.

“Obviously the fact we came so close can be used as motivation and the aim is to get the business done.”

    Welcome back, Tom!
