Chester FC are delighted to announce the signing of Tom Sparrow on a youth loan for an initial three months from Stoke City!
The 20-year-old arrives down CH1 having made three appearances in the EFL Championship with his parent club as well as being capped twice for Wales at Under-21 level.
Tom made 17 appearances on loan at Hamilton Academical last term in the Scottish Championship, helping them to win the Scottish Challenge Cup.
He is a versatile player who can operate at full-back, wing-back and also central midfield.
Speaking to ChesterFC.com after seeing his newest recruit put pen to paper, Manager Calum McIntyre said: “Tom is a player we have tracked for a while and been keen to add to the group for several months.
“He has real talent and can be utilised in a number of positions.
“Tom is a full-back as well as being an energetic central midfield player. It’s clear we needed to add bodies in the defensive positions and we have been insistent on versatility in all of our signings this summer.
“I am delighted that we have been able to bring Tom to the football club and we are grateful to Stoke City for enabling us to take Tom on loan. I am really looking forward to working with him during his time with us.”
Sparrow is eligible to feature for the first time tonight as we host Hereford and will wear the number 18 shirt.
Welcome to the Leap76 Stadium, Tom!
