Welcome back to Chester FC, Fin Roberts!

Chester FC are delighted to announce the return of forward Fin Roberts on a season-long loan from Crewe Alexandra.

The 19-year-old added another dimension to the Blues’ attack for a brief period last season between 21 January and 17 February, before he was recalled by Crewe.

The season-long loan deal includes a ten-day period in January in which Roberts’ parent club have the option to recall him to their squad.

Fin netted on two occasions and was a major part of our seven-game winning run in January and early February.

His first came on his debut on the road at Scarborough Athletic, as he grabbed an equaliser late in the first half with a composed finish, before playing a crucial hand in the goal that earned an initial lead in the 4-2 victory.

Just a week later Roberts capped off a resilient performance away at Peterborough Sports by grabbing the only goal of the game with a close-range finish.

The youngster was sent on loan to fellow National League North play-off chasers Kidderminster Harriers for the dying embers of the campaign but he failed to make an impact at Aggborough, featuring for just 21 minutes during a sole appearance.

Fin earned his move to the Alex after a stretch of outstanding performances in the Isthmian League whilst on loan at Beckenham Town in 23/24, a campaign in which he finished as top scorer.

Manager Calum McIntyre was delighted to welcome Fin back to the Deva: “We are delighted to have added Fin to the squad during the final stages of Pre-Season,” he said.

“He needs no introduction after a short but impressive loan spell with us during the middle of last season.

“He is a natural goalscorer that proved he can find the net at this level and compliments our attacking unit really nicely.

“It’s something we have kept our eye on during the summer and we are really happy that we’ve got it done before the end of July.

“Once he was made available, the list of clubs interested in securing him on loan was huge. It’s exciting and pleasing for us that he was only interested in returning to Chester.

“He speaks really fondly of the group of players here as well as the supporters which is fantastic. We have kept in touch since his loan spell and he is someone I really enjoy working with.

“I’m really looking forward to helping him kick on again this season.”
