    Chester FC are delighted to announce the signing of left-sided wing-back Jack Shorrock from Port Vale a loan deal until early December!

    Despite his young age, the 18-year-old brings a wealth of senior football experience to the Deva, having played in both EFL League One and League Two over previous seasons.

    Jack holds the accolade as the Valiants’ youngest-ever player, following his debut against Shrewsbury Town in September 2022 at the age of just 15.

    Shorrock has now played over 40 games for the club, including 17 appearances in the fourth tier, a division in which he has scored twice, and 13 outings in the third tier.

    Stockport-born, the left-sided player spent time at both Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers at youth level, before impressing Port Vale whilst on trial in 2022.

    The 18-year-old’s impressive performances in Vale’s youth team during the following season saw him break-in to the first team, leading to his League One debut on the final day of the 22/23 campaign.

    He picked up the club’s Goal of the Season award for the 2024/25 season courtesy of a stunning volley against local rivals Crewe Alexandra, before going on to earn the League Two Apprentice of the Season award at the EFL Awards.

    Blues boss Calum McIntyre was delighted after the deal was completed: “We have needed to upgrade our left-sided options for weeks now and I am delighted we have finally got this done,” he said.

    “Jack is versatile, in that he can play as a wide forward, a full back, or at the side of the midfield on the left-hand side of the pitch.

    “We lack left-footers and natural left-siders at the club so this is an important acquisition.

    “As much as Jack is a younger player, he has an enormous amount of senior games in the EFL and will improve us immediately.

    “With a need to improve results, it’s important we recognise where we need to and have to improve.”

    After his loan move was confirmed, Jack said: “This is somewhere that I can get my season going and show the fans what I can do.”

    “The opportunities I’ve had at a young age have improved my maturity.

    “I’m comfortable playing anywhere on the left-hand side.

    “The fans can expect someone who gives 100% every week, I’ll give everything on the pitch to help the team.”
