Welcome to Chester FC, Michael Kelly!
Chester FC are delighted to announce the signing of Michael Kelly from Boston United on a loan deal until the end of the season!
The 28-year-old links up with the Blues to bolster defensive options, following the recent departures of Hayden Carson and James Jones.
A full-back with experience, Kelly started his career in the youth setup at Aberdeen before a switch to Leicester City in 2015.
“He is one of what I hope are a number of positive additions as we look to add to the squad to help us secure a play-off spot come April.”
A short stint back in Scotland with Hurlford United followed before he moved back to English football with Bristol Rovers in 2017, where he made 50 appearances over four years, a spell included loans at Bath City and Yeovil Town.
In more recent years, Michael enjoyed a two-year stint with National League outfit Eastleigh, before a successful switch to Scunthorpe United, whom he helped to promotion from the Enterprise National League North last term.
On his latest addition, Blues boss Calum McIntyre said: “Michael is a really good addition for us. He is a versatile full back who is also a set-piece taker.
“He brings real experience of a higher level as well as promotion from this league.
“He won’t be available for the weekend but no doubt will play a big part in the second half of the season. He is one of what I hope are a number of positive additions as we look to add to the squad to help us secure a play-off spot come April.”
Welcome to Chester FC, Michael!
