Welcome to Chester FC, Mitch Hancox!

Chester FC are delighted to announce the signing of Mitch Hancox following his departure from Altrincham!

The versatile midfielder has penned a one-year-deal with the Blues and becomes the fifth new face at the Deva this summer.

Hancox, who brings bags of experience, can slot into various different positions but primarily plays as a defensive midfielder.

Born in Solihull, Mitch made his professional debut for Birmingham City in the Championship and featured 40 times for the club before he departed in 2016.

He is a three-time promotion winner, having tasted success with Macclesfield, MK Dons and York City.

He departed York in March before moving to the J. Davidson Stadium where he held a pivotal role towards the end of the campaign, starting in all-but-one of the Robins’ fixtures during his spell which saw Alty record an impressive fourth-placed finish.

Mitch was photographed at the Abode Chester, where the Blues First Team returned today for their first pre-season meeting.

Manager Calum McIntyre said: “I’m really pleased to have added a player of Mitch’s experience to the group. He was one of our targets when he left Altrincham and I am really pleased we have got this done.

“He has won three promotions in his career and this experience is exactly what we wanted to add. He has a terrific engine and will add real legs and athletic qualities to our group. He is a left footer which ensures balance in the middle of the pitch for us.

“This completes our midfield for the season ahead. We feel like the midfielders we have added to the group in the summer will make us a more balanced unit.

“We set out to add athleticism and experience across the pitch and I think this is another signing that reflects that.

“We know there is more to do in full-back areas and there is always an appetite for adding forward players to the group.

“We just need to be clear that we don’t want to sign players for the sake of signing players and we have to work within our budget.

“These are the realities and we are continuing to work hard to add to the group in the coming days and weeks.”

    Welcome to CH1, Mitch!
