MATCH PREVIEW | Chester vs CPD Bangor 1876
Chester FC are back in action this evening at the Deva Stadium – as the newly formed fan-owned CPD Bangor 1876 visit.
The Blues captured the Supporters Direct Shield on Tuesday with a 4-1 victory at 1874 Northwich. Anthony Dudley’s brace took him to five goals in five games, with Simon Grand and Danny Elliott also hitting the back of the net.
Bangor’s first game, away at another fan owned club in FC United, resulted in a 12-1 defeat. However, the result was somewhat insignificant in front of 800 people on a proud day for a newly formed team. Mel Jones’ side are gearing up for their inaugural season in the Welsh pyramid.
This is the start of three games in three days for Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley’s side. It is expected some younger players will play tonight, but also a strong core of first teamers who need minutes ahead of the National League North campaign.
Speaking after Tuesday’s win, Joint Boss Bernard Morley told the press: “We’ll be strong for Bangor. The likes of Akwasi, Matty Hughes, Brad Jackson, Matty Waters, they’ll all be playing. Lads who need minutes. James Jones had concussion (picked up in win over Newquay) but he’s back in training and his two weeks is up. Brad Jackson had impact against Carlisle. He probably could have played (against 1874 Northwich) but with 11 days to go it was a case of giving him another 48 hours rest and he’ll play a part at Bangor.
