BREAKING | Matty Williams signs new deal at Chester FC!

Chester FC are delighted to announce that Matty Williams has signed a contract extension at the Deva Stadium!

The 22-year-old centre-back has put pen to paper on a new deal that will see him remain with the Blues for the 2023/24 campaign.

Williams arrived in the summer of 2021 and made an immediate impact in his first season with the club. He made 35 appearances and scored five goals, being named City Fans United Player of the Season in the process.

Matty has made further strides this term under boss Calum McIntyre, being a key part of a back line that has kept 18 clean sheets and has one of the best defensive records in the National League North.

He has made a further 40 appearances this campaign, scoring on three occasions.

Blues boss McIntyre had this to say after his centre back put pen to paper: “I’m delighted to have Matty on board for next season.

“His development this campaign has been tremendous and he has cemented himself as as good a defender as you will find in the National League North.

“He is a player who has really impressed me as the season has progressed and someone I enjoy working with.

“I’m really pleased that as a club we have been able to be proactive and secure one of our most talented players on a deal ahead of next season.”
