    It’s a tough clash for the Blues today – visiting Aldershot in search of their first victory of the campaign.

    Last time out the Blues suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat to early front runners Sutton United.

    Chester found themselves 2-0 down in the 44th minute but a quick reply from Craig Mahon halved the deficit and sent the team in just the one goal behind at half time.

    Lucas Dawson then found the back of the net following the interval when he put Chester back on level terms in the 63rd minute. Jon McCarthy’s men looked set for a well-earned point until Cadogan snatched the win for the visitors in stoppage time.

    After beginning the season with three straight wins, the Shots are now without a win in two matches following a draw away to Maidstone and a 2-1 defeat to Boreham Wood, dropping down to third place with 10 points.

    The last time the two sides met came last season in December 2016 where Chester came out in top in a 2-0 win courtesy of goals from Jordan Chapell and James Alabi.

    Chester have enjoyed decent form against Aldershot. In the eight previous clashes between the two clubs, the Blues have won four, drew two and lost two, inflicting the Shots record defeat along the way with an 8-2 thrashing in March 2016.

    Chester were 6-1 up by the break thanks to four first half goals from James Alabi and a Sam Hughes brace before a Ross Hannah double rounded off the scoring for Chester on a night Aldershot fans do not want reminding about.
