ALL STAR GAME | MICHAEL OWEN TO STAR WITH DAD TERRY

At 7.45pm on Thursday night at the Swansway Chester Stadium, a little bit of history will be made.

A Chester Select side will be taking on a Colin Murray All Star team, and while there are a few tired limbs on both sides, the kick off will be a truly magical moment.

Striker Terry Owen played for Chester during one of the club’s most successful successful periods during the seventies, and was top scorer in the 1974/75 season when The Blues gained promotion from the fourth division.

That same season, Chester beat the likes of the famous Leeds United side that were League Champions at the time and Newcastle United to reach the League Cup semi-final, with Terry scoring in a 2-2 home draw with Aston Villa, before narrowly losing the reply 3-2 at Villa Park.

Shortly after this, Terry Owen welcomed his son Michael into the world… and he turned out to be a decent footballer as well!

On Thursday, Terry will wear the Blue and White again to take the kick off alongside his son Michael.

A wonderful moment to begin an evening that is destined to once again secure the future of a great club!

Michael said, “It will be an amazing moment for me to see my Dad out on that pitch. I grew up with stories of his time with Chester and I can’t believe, all these years later, I’m going to share a pitch with him.”

Owen Snr added, “I’m honoured to be asked to take part on Thursday. This club is so important to the community and any little thing I can do to help, is my pleasure.”
