BREAKING | Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley sign new deals at Chester FC!

Chester Football Club are thrilled to announce that Joint Managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley have signed two-and-a-half-year contract extensions with the club.

The new deals see the Management duo secure their futures at the club until the end of the 2021/22 season.

‘Bern and Jonno’ arrived at the 1885 Arena in May 2018 after leaving Salford City – the side they had won the National League North title with just one month prior.

The Blues, relegated from the National League that season, hit a fine run of form between September and November during the 2018/19 campaign – going 11 NLN games unbeaten.

Despite a stop-start season that included injuries and match postponements due to infrastructure damage at the ground, Johnson and Morley guided Chester to a respectable 9th place finish – just three points short of the play-off places.

This term the Blues have moved to a hybrid model, with the Managers attracting some fantastic footballers to the club – assembling an exciting team playing attractive and fast-paced attacking football currently sitting third in the table.

The Board of Directors were delighted to tie the Managers down to new deals, and speaking on their behalf, Vice-Chair Andy Morris had this to say.

“The Board of City Fans United are delighted to secure the contract extension of Bernard Morley and Anthony Johnson until May 2022.

“Successful football Clubs are built through sustained and continued improvement on and off the pitch and the work that these managers have done over the last 18 months to develop a footballing infrastructure, which aligned to our Club values, has been remarkable given where the Club were when they joined.

“The board look forward to working with the managers for the duration of the contract and have the upmost confidence that the club will continue to progress under their stewardship.”
