BREAKING | Chester sign Elliott Whitehouse on loan!
Chester Football Club are delighted to announce the loan signing of Elliott Whitehouse from Scunthorpe United!
The 29-year-old arrives at the Deva Stadium on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign.
A vastly experienced midfielder who has had a hugely successful career to date, Elliott started at Sheffield United, where he captained the U18 side that reached the 2010/11 FA Youth Cup Final – before going on to make five senior appearances for the club.
He gained further first team experience on loan at York City and Alfreton Town before signing a permanent deal with Notts County in 2014 and then FC Halifax Town the following year.
Whitehouse then moved to Nuneaton Town, notching an impressive 20 goals in 45 National League North appearances, earning him a move to Lincoln City.
He went on to make 77 appearances for The Imps, scoring ten goals and helping them win promotion to the Football League, enjoy a memorable FA Cup run and also bagged the decisive goal in their EFL Trophy Final triumph in 2018 at Wembley.
The former England C international then spent time at Grimsby Town and Forest Green Rovers, before joining Scunthorpe in the summer following a successful trial period.
He has had experience at this level this season also, spending a month on loan at Spennymoor Town.
Manager Calum McIntyre said: “Elliott adds obvious quality and significant experience for the business end of the season.
“We felt we wanted to add a midfield option but someone who had played a significant amount of games at the right level.
“We think Elliott’s experience will improve us at this extremely important time of the season and I am delighted we have been able to attract a player of his calibre to the club.”
Welcome to Chester FC, Elliott!
