BREAKING | Defender Harrison Burke signs First Team Contract at Chester FC!

We are pleased to announce that Chester FC’s Youth Team Captain Harrison Burke has signed a First Team Contract at the Deva Stadium.

Putting pen to paper with his hometown club, Harrison hails from Dodleston and is a central defender that has caught the eye with his progression in the Academy. He is the skipper of the Under-18’s side that won at York City last night to advance to the First Round of the FA Youth Cup.

Burke made his senior debut in the Cheshire Cup victory over Tranmere Rovers in March this year, putting in a Man of the Match performance and helping to keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 win.

Blues Joint Bosses Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley said: “As well as playing an outstanding part in the youth team successes of the last two years, culminating in him now being the captain, H has been training with the first team over the last twelve months as well.

“Even at his young age he has tremendous leadership qualities and his technical and tactical understanding belie his young age.

“We’re so excited by his development so far under Calum and his coaching staff – and look forward to his progression over the next few years.”

Harrison first joined the Chester FC Academy as an Under-13, and only turned 18 years of age last month.

Academy Head Coach Calum McIntyre said: “I am so pleased for Harrison.

“He is an outstanding talent and possesses all the attributes to succeed. Seeing him progress has been an absolute delight and I have no doubts he will only continue to improve and be an enormous asset to the football club.

“Harrison has progressed through the junior ranks at the club and this is another testament to the terrific volunteer coaches and the superb work they have done and continue to do with our younger age groups.

“My thanks, on behalf of the club, go to all those that have played their part in Harrison’s journey so far.”

The Community Trust is helping to facilitate the deal with Harrison undertaking coaching work in the community alongside his footballing commitments.

Mike Vickers, chair of trustees, said: “The Community Trust is passionate about supporting young people to reach their potential, both on and off the pitch.

“Harrison is an impressive young man who displays a fantastic attitude and a great role model for any local youngster who has aspirations of playing football.

“We are delighted to be able to play a part in his first contract and look forward to him joining our team of community coaches.”
