BREAKING | Joel Taylor returns to Chester FC!

Chester FC are thrilled to welcome defender Joel Taylor back to the Club!

The 27-year-old left-back was a hugely popular figure at the Deva in his first spell with the Blues and has now returned to sign a one-year deal for 2023/24.

Taylor initially arrived down CH1 in the summer of 2019 and had a crucial impact in his only full campaign with the Club – being named CFU Player of the Season for 2019/20 and was also selected in the Vanarama National League North Team of the Season.

Joel made 48 appearances for Chester, before moving up a division to sign for Chesterfield for an undisclosed fee in December 2020.

The defender would then sign for Notts County in 2021, spending two years with the Magpies.

He finished last season with another spell in the National League, closing out the campaign with play-off chasing Wealdstone.

Taylor is Manager Calum McIntyre’s second new permanent acquisition of the summer and had this to say…

“I’m delighted to have Joel return to Chester FC.

“He has proven himself to be among the best full-backs in this division previously and I feel this is a huge signing.

“In our conversations, Joel’s affection for the club was clear and I know how determined he is to be successful upon his return.

“He has played a real amount of games at this level as well as his experience at the level above and I feel this is a signing that highlights exactly where we want to be next season.”

    Welcome home, Joel!
