BREAKING | Matty Hughes joins Lancaster City on dual registration

Chester FC can confirm that forward Matty Hughes has joined Lancaster City on a dual registration basis.

The 28-year-old joins the Northern Premier League side who sit in 12th place in the table with ten points from seven matches and just one defeat this term.

Hughes has made six appearances from the bench this term for the Blues. He has played 74 times for the club so far across three spells, scoring 13 times.

Joint Manager Anthony Johnson had this to say: “As we all know, Matty has had a horrific time over the last couple of years with various injuries which has meant his playing time has been limited.

“He came to see us and asked if he could go out and play games, as at this moment he was only getting small amounts of time on the pitch.

“That just shows the character and hunger of the lad that he’s determined to get back to where he was two years ago. Lancaster are doing well in the league below and play in a way that will suit Matty down to the ground.

“Hopefully he can go there and find the best version of Matty Hughes and then come back to Chester absolutely flying.”

    Good luck, Matty!
