BREAKING | Mike Allcock appointed Academy Head Coach!
Chester FC is pleased to confirm the appointment of Mike Allcock as Academy Head Coach.
Mike initially arrived at the Deva as Youth Team Assistant Manager and Lead Technical Coach for the Academy back in August 2020.
Mike, who has now been promoted to the role of Academy Head Coach to replace new First Team Manager Calum McIntyre, has previous experience at AFC Fylde – as Under 18’s Manager – and Hyde United.
Alongside his new position, Allcock will also form a part of Calum’s new-look backroom staff as First Team Coach.
“I am very excited to continue the excellent work that has been done over the past few years,” Mike said following his appointment.
“I want to continue the high standards that have been set in terms of transitioning the youth team players into our first team and beyond.
“The clubs new training model and structure will give the players a fantastic opportunity to strive and hopefully reach their goals as a young footballer. My involvement in the first team setup will provide alignment with our principles of play between senior and academy squads.
“It is a very exciting time to be part of this club at present, and I hope together we can achieve some great memories.”
“Mike is as talented a coach as I’ve worked with at any level,” said First Team Manager Calum McIntyre.
“His attention to detail and his ability to deliver that to players on the training pitch are first class and he is a huge asset to the football club.
“He is the perfect person to lead the Academy into this next period balancing maintaining our long-established principles but equally bringing fresh ideas to move things even further forward. I am sure he will be a huge success.
“Equally, Mike will form a huge part of the first team coaching staff. His skillset and personality mean he is a significant part of my team and I’m delighted he will be working with the first team this coming season.
“Combining his role as Academy Head Coach and First Team Coach is something hugely positive, establishing a clear link between our Under 18’s and First Team.
“This has been really beneficial in previous years as we look to continue the production line of homegrown players into our first team.”
The role of Professional Development Phase Coach within the Academy will be advertised in due course.
