BREAKING | Zak Goodson signs for Chester FC!
Chester FC are pleased to announce the signing of prolific forward Zak Goodson!
The exciting 23-year-old attacker has put pen to paper at the Deva Stadium on a one-year deal after departing Altrincham at the end of the season.
The Robins paid an undisclosed fee for his services in August 2022 after his 21 goals for Ilkeston Town the previous season saw them crowned Champions of the Northern Premier League (Midlands) Division.
Goodson started his career in Derby County’s Academy, before moving on to Long Eaton United where he scored 16 times in 23 appearances.
He would then move on to Basford United, notching 29 goals across two seasons which also included a spell at Newark.
Manager Calum McIntyre said:“Zak is a player who was on our radar midway through last season and someone we were keen to bring to the club when he was available this summer.
“He’s a really versatile forward player but is really consistent in that he is a goal scorer.
“Zak is a really good profile for us and fits within our recruitment model of proven young players but with further potential.
“I’m really pleased to have added him to what is a really exciting front line as pre-season approaches.”
Last season, Goodson had spells on loan at fellow National League North clubs Boston United and Spennymoor Town.
He would make a cup impact for the Robins with a last-minute equaliser in the FA Trophy against Wrexham, before then scoring in the penalty shootout as Alty progressed.
Zak also notched a late leveller from the spot in their 2-2 draw with Torquay United last month in the National League.
Welcome to the Blues, Zak!
