Calum reaches 100 games in charge of Chester FC!

Chester FC Manager Calum McIntyre made it 100 games in permanent charge of the Blues in yesterday’s draw at league leaders Tamworth.

With 44 wins, 38 draws and just 18 defeats in a century of games – the 30-year-old has a superb win/draw percentage of 82%.

McIntyre has made fantastic progression with the club since his appointment back in May 2022, winning Vanarama National League North Manager of the Season for 2022/23 as the club moved from 16th the year before to a 3rd place finish and a Play-Off Semi Final.

Calum’s sides have been hugely impressive in their organisation, having the best defensive record last season, conceding just 41 goals in 46 games – and 29 so far in the 40 games this term – which is still a lower number combined than the entirety of 2021/22.

After struggling on the road in the year prior, the Blues went on a club record 21 matches undefeated away last season. Of the 18 losses in 100 games, on only one occasion has the defeat been by a margin of above one goal.

There’s been cup disappointment in years gone by, but Calum’s reign has put an end to that. FA Cup runs to 4QR last year and this year the First Round proper has brought us memorable moments along the way. Just once have the Seals been eliminated from a cup competition in 90 minutes – the remainder of matches being drawn and losing on penalties.

McIntyre has also claimed Vanarama National League North Manager of the Month for November 2022 and October 2023.

Last season’s 3rd place finish has been backed up with further consistency this year, the Blues sitting inside the Play-Offs once again as the season reaches its crunch.

He’s a hugely talented Manager, and his connection to the fans has proved second to none.

    Congratulations, Gaffer!
