CFC WOMENS REPORT | Chester FC 5-3 Runcorn Linnets

Chester FC Women made it two wins from two with a 5-3 home success against Runcorn Linnets in North West Women’s Regional Football League Division One South on Sunday.

The Blues made a blistering start to the contest at Ellesmere Port Sports Village, racing into a three-goal lead inside the opening 20 minutes.

Molly Wood fired Chester in front in the third minute and added a second soon after before Rachel Lever collected Lucy Adderley’s long pass to make it 3-0, although the visitors pulled a goal back to complete the scoring in a frantic first period.

Linnets cut the deficit further approaching the hour mark but Lever turned provider to set up Izzy Crooks as she made it 4-2 to the Blues entering the final stages.

Runcorn refused to give in and again closed to within a single goal with 12 minutes left, but in the last few minutes Lever rounded off a smart team move to bag her second of the game and wrap up the three points.

The newly formed Development Squad began their campaign with a resounding 5-1 win at Willaston in the Cheshire Women’s League Championship West.

Liv Forster led the charge with a brace as further goals from Alisha Wright, Ellie Kent and Ellie Granger completed the win for Ben Richards’ charges.
