CFCW REPORT: Chester 3-4 Wythenshawe
A chaotic ending at the Leap76 Stadium saw the Blues narrowly beaten in front of another healthy crowd down CH1.
Martin Fitzsimons’ side led 2-1 against title rivals Wythenshawe on Sunday afternoon with less than ten minutes to go – but four goals in the final stages saw them end the game empty handed.
Despite losing Kerry Morris early on to injury, the Blues took the lead on five minutes when Ash Bullock fired home. The visitors levelled before the break from the penalty spot through Chambers.
But it looked like it would be a memorable afternoon at the Leap76 as Imogen Paul headed home with just ten minutes to go.
However, it wasn’t to be as Wythenshawe levelled courtesy of Chambers’ second of the match – and then instantly took the lead when Dixon made it 3-2.
Chester then hit back immediately at the end of a spell of four goals in four minutes as Sarah Redman lobbed the goalkeeper.
Chambers though completed her hat-trick with a stunning 40-yard free kick in the final minute of the 90 to seal a victory for the visitors in a seven-goal thriller.
