FA CUP PREVIEW | Chester vs Spennymoor Town

After a dramatic late show and penalty shootout win at Worksop Town over a week ago, our attentions are once again back with the Emirates FA Cup.

A tough test awaits the Blues, hosting fellow National League North side Spennymoor Town at the Deva Stadium in the Third Qualifying Round.

Nevertheless, Bern and Jonno’s side come into this match on a high – having picked up six points from six to start a season for the first time in five years. Saturday’s huge win at home to Leamington was the first time Chester have been victorious over the Brakes in five attempts since relegation to the sixth tier.

Danny Elliott bagged a brace, meaning he has three goals in the first two league games, as well as picking up the Man of the Match award. Paddy Lacey’s suspension following his red card at Kidderminster last week means he is unable to feature tonight.

Jason Ainsley’s side have four points from their first two league games, defeating Farsley Celtic seven days ago before drawing at Alfreton Town over the weekend.

Kick off tonight at the Deva Stadium is 7.45pm. If the tie is level after 90 minutes, as per the last round, we will go straight to a penalty shootout. The prize fund sees the winners of this tie gain £5,625, whilst the losers receive £1,875.
