FAYC REPORT | Chester 2-0 Altrincham
Chester advanced into the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup tonight with a 2-0 win over Altrincham.
In a tight first half, Ben Croft went closest for the Blues, forcing Dane Byron into a stunning reaction stop.
But Chester weren’t to be denied on 68 minutes, when Sol Ashworth’s long throw fell into the path of Paige Wilding, who tucked home from close range.
Joe Beswick kept Mike Allcock’s side in front with a fantastic fingertip save to deny Sam Chambers on 77 minutes, before the Blues made it safe with four to play. Reece Daly capped an excellent display by scoring from a free kick which found the bottom corner.
