Jid Okeke joins on loan from Stockport County!

Chester FC are pleased to announce the signing of Jid Okeke on loan from Stockport County!

Jid arrives on a six-week youth loan from the Hatters and can operate as a full-back or wing-back. The 19-year-old, who stands at 6″3 in height, is from Germany and started his career with FC St Pauli.

Okeke had a brief spell on loan at Stalybridge Celtic last season from Oldham Athletic, before moving to Stockport County in the summer. He was named on the bench for the first time in League Two last Saturday in their 3-1 victory over Walsall.

Manager Calum McIntyre said: “We felt earlier in the season that when injuries and unavailability had hit us, we were forced to be really reactive with our loan signings which isn’t the position we want to find ourselves in.

“We have spent a lot of time identifying specific players for certain scenarios if we lost particular bodies, so Jid is someone we were quick to add to the group this week.

“He is a really athletic full-back, who is very good 1 v 1 and ensures we continue to have the right kind of options available to us with our systems. He is highly thought of at Stockport and we appreciate their help in getting him to us for the next six weeks.

“We recognise the need to add to the group in certain areas and this is what I hope will be the first of three additions over the next few weeks.”
