MATCH PREVIEW | Chester vs Everton U-23’s

    Chester FC conclude their pre-season action tomorrow afternoon, as a youthful Everton side visit the Swansway Chester Stadium.

    Just eight days remain until the curtain raiser against Spennymoor, and Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley have got the striker they were after. Anthony Dudley arrives with excellent pedigree, scoring important goals for Salford last year as they won the National League North title.

    He, alongside experienced defender Danny Livesey, have joined on loan from the Ammies for the entire season. Accompanied by the signing of teenage goalkeeper Theo Roberts, yesterday was an excellent business day for Chester FC and their managerial duo.

    A very encouraging 2-2 draw with a strong Morecambe side on Tuesday only furthers the good feeling around Chester ahead of the new campaign.

    Despite a missed penalty, and being behind in the game twice, it finished level as Steven Howson headed home and Gary Roberts found the back of the net from the penalty spot.

    Everton U-23’s represent a different kind of test tomorrow. After games against Premier League elite, Evo-Stik opposition and physical Football League sides, the Blues are up against a young and energetic side tomorrow.

    They’ve already been to Spain on a training camp and faced fellow National League North side Stockport County this pre-season – and this game is also their last friendly before David Unsworth’s youngsters begin their PL 2 campaign.

    Kick off tomorrow is 3pm.
