MATCH REPORT | Llandudno 0-4 Chester

Chester scored four goals in 15 second half minutes this evening to complete a convincing victory over Welsh Premier side Llandudno.

Despite having numerous first team players rested ahead of tomorrow’s game against Bury, the Chester youngsters and trialists impressed in an excellent win.

Trialist E came off the bench to score the opener on 67 minutes – before three of our own: Nathan Brown, Alex Downes and Cain Noble got in on the act to add to the scoreline.

The first half ended goalless – but Chester certainly had the best of the opening 45. Captain for the night Gary Roberts sprayed some delightful passes around – his first clip over the top met Trialist B, but he lashed over just inside the area.

Roberts then had a left footed effort of his own well held by Llandudno keeper Pearson, before this time releasing Matty Hughes over the top, but he struck the ball right across the face of goal from a tight angle.

Somehow it remained all square at the interval, Iwan Murray’s corner minutes beforehand was headed towards goal by Trialist B – but a combination of Llandudno keeper and defenders kept it out on the line.

Just after the break, Hughes was brilliantly denied by Pearson – before five Chester changes saw the goalscoring exploits begin.

First, on 67 minutes, Trialist E made a delightful burst into the box from the right, Lloyd Marsh-Hughes found him with a clever ball around the corner, and the Trialist made no mistake one-on-one.

Trialist E was certainly making his mark. Just nine minutes later, he made another fantastic run – this time to the byline – and cut back a cross that was turned home by Nathan Brown.

Two became three less than five minutes later. Brown turned provider as his corner went deep, Academy Graduate Alex Downes did well to keep it alive – heading it back into the air – and showed tremendous endeavour to get into a position to smash a volley into the net via the underside of the crossbar.

Cain Noble got the final goal of the game on 82 minutes – he sidefooted home a loose ball which Llandudno keeper Pearson had pushed out to the edge of the box.

A good workout, and less than 24 hours for the Blues to return to action – with a game against Bury.
