NEWS | Thank you, John Needham!
Chester FC would like to thank long-serving volunteer John Needham for all of his hard work over the past decade as he steps down from his stadium maintenance role.
Both John and his wife Marion, who is now a Club Honorary Life Vice President, started volunteering at the Deva shortly after the club reformed.
John quickly decided office work wasn’t for him and started picking up some of the maintenance issues around the ground, before taking on a formal position.
Some of John’s big projects include the fantastic work on the home dressing room, the refurbishment of the boardroom kitchen, a new press bench, refitting the club shop and the trophy cabinet.
He was named Clubman of the Year in 2015 in recognition of his outstanding work.
The Needham’s are avid supporters of the Academy setup and provide them with great support – which also included John making a table tennis table for the Scholars to use during their downtime!
He was also responsible for the groundsman role between Steve Ollerenshaw’s departure and Mike Barrow’s appointment.
CFU Chairman Andy Morris said: “As a Club we would like to thank John for the countless hours he has put in over the last decade carrying out numerous tasks to ensure that the stadium is fit for purpose.
“Not only has he been generous with his time, but he is also a very skilled tradesman and will be greatly missed.”
Everyone at Chester FC would like to thank John for his work over the years!
