Preview: Southport (a)
The Blues are on the hunt for a fifth successive win in all competitions on Tuesday night as they take on Southport.
Saturday’s superb 2-0 win over promotion favourites Scunthorpe United was a second successive win by the same scoreline – and also featured the same scorers in back-to-back games in Charlie Caton and Elliott Whitehouse.
Caton was taken off just prior to half time due to injury, with Tom Peers impressing as his replacement in what was his second debut for the club.
THE OPPOSITION
Jim Bentley took over as Manager at Southport on 29th August and has steered the Sandgrounders out of the drop zone and into a fine run of form.
Prior to Saturday’s loss at Peterborough Sports, Bentley’s first defeat in charge, Tuesday’s opponents were unbeaten in six – that run including five wins.
