REPORT | Poulton Vics Ladies 3-6 Chester FC Women
Chester FC Women mounted a fantastic fightback to make it two wins from two to start the new season – winning a nine goal thriller.
Poulton Vics raced into a two goal lead inside the opening 20 minutes, leaving Martin Fitzsimons’ side with a mountain to climb.
However, the Seals battled back in some style to make it six points from a possible six. It was back all square by the half time break before their class showed in the second 45.
Ellie Bradley got the comeback started on 26 minutes when she converted from close range, before Evie Halliwell squared for Alisha Wright to finish just before the interval.
Chester were on the front foot at the start of the second half as they aimed to complete the turnaround – and got their third goal on 62 minutes when Molly Wood fired into the goal through a crowd of defensive bodies.
Wood made it an evening to remember – and made it a brace just a matter of moments later when she pounced on a loose ball to score and further increase the advantage.
Ash Bullock and Bradley would then combine to set up Wright for her second of the match – meaning the Blues had scored three goals in four incredible second half minutes.
And Wood completed her hat-trick to make the game well and truly safe with a quarter of an hour remaining, cutting inside and curling home via the inside of the post.
A late goal followed for the home side to complete a manic 20 minutes of action – but it couldn’t stop the Seals from keeping their spot at the top of the table as they made it back to back wins.
