CFCW Preview: Warrington Town (a)

It’s ’Derby Day’ this weekend as Chester FC travel to face local rivals Warrington Town in the 2nd Qualifying Round of The Vitality Women’s FA Cup at The Tetley Walker Recreation Ground.

The Blues made it consecutive league wins last weekend following a hard fought 2-1 home win against early table-toppers St Helens.

Chester forward Molly Wood once again was the difference, grabbing both goals making it three goals in her last two games.

The win ended St Helens 100% start to the season and moved Chester up to 5th in the table just six points behind league leaders Wythenshawe.

Sunday’s hosts Warrington Town come into this weekend’s clash on the back of a 5-4 defeat to Hindley Juniors. The yellows have made a mixed start to their league campaign this season, picking up just two wins from their seven games played.

The Cheshire outfit made it through to the 2nd qualifying round of the competition following a bye in the first round. Chester on the other hand had to come through a tricky away tie at Nantwich Town.

Following a 1-1 draw in normal time the match was settled with a penalty shootout, the Seals kept their nerve converting all four of their penalties to win 4-3 and progress through.
