CFCW Report: Ellesmere Port Town 3-4 Chester

Chester FC Women returned to winning ways with a dramatic comeback at Ellesmere Port Town.

Sarah Redman gave the Blues the lead midway through the first half, firing home following a scramble. However, Ellesmere Port took a lead into halftime, first with a stunner from distance on the half hour mark before going in front on 40 minutes.

Chester hit back instantly following half time, Emma Gray turning home the equaliser after Kim Sands had hit the crossbar initially.

Just eight minutes later though, the hosts were awarded a penalty, which they converted despite the best efforts of ‘keeper Sophie Foster.

But the Seals continued to press and equalised once more on 81 minutes as a Sands cross from the right was turned into the net by an Ellesmere Port defender.

Chester then won it a matter of seconds later as Rach Lloyd’s corner flew all the way in to seal a dramatic victory.

CHESTER: Foster, Sands, Riley, Adderley, Randles, Dowell (Jones 53), Wood, Lloyd, Redman, Bullock (Morris 61), Gray (Gill 77).

SCORERS: Redman 23, Gray 48, Own Goal 81, Lloyd 82.
