PREVIEW | Chester vs Curzon Ashton

Tonight sees the Deva have its first unrestricted league crowd for 18 months as Curzon Ashton visit CH1.

The game was set to be our league opener on the 14th August, but was postponed due to covid-19 protocols. This meant both sides kicked off their National League North campaign over the weekend, and both ended up with a point.

Curzon drew 1-1 with Guiseley at Tameside Stadium. Alex Curran’s first half strike gave the Nash the lead, before a second half own goal meant it finished all square.

The Blues meanwhile staged an excellent fightback to get themselves off the mark. Two goals down inside half an hour, match rustiness showed with no game for 14 days. But Bern and Jonno’s side got right into their stride and a George Waring brace ensured a share of the spoils. However, they finished much the stronger and had chances to win the game late on.

Last season, Chester were victorious over Tuesday’s opponents at the Deva with a 2-1 victory. Skipper George Glendon struck with a stunner ten minutes from time to pick up the win.
